Weight Management Clinic
We know it can be difficult to lose weight, but we're here to help you achieve your goals.
Our newly launched Weight Management Clinic is run by our specially trained GP and nursing team, who will support you with lifestyle, diet, and psychological advice alongside the prescription of Mounjaro.
What treatments do we offer?
The Healthcare Group Weight Management Clinic offers Mounjaro (also called Tirzepatide), which is an injectable prescription that contributes to weight loss, when taken alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise. It is used for adults who are overweight or obese.
How does it work?
The medication works by mimicking two naturally occurring hormones in your body that control your blood sugar levels, boosting insulin release after you eat. It also slows gastric emptying, which helps you feel full for longer, and controls your appetite. This helps you reduce your food intake. Clinical trials have found that Mounjaro can help you lose up to 20% of your body weight, when taken alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Can anyone have this treatment?
We can only treat patients over 18 with either a minimum BMI of 27 with health related issues that could be improved by weight reduction (i.e. high blood pressure), or a BMI of 30 with no health related issues.
Each patient will be asked to complete an initial pre-screening questionnaire to ensure they are suitable for the treatment before it is commenced and some baseline bloods.
How do I access the clinic?
The clinic is run out of each of our surgeries by specially trained GPs: Dr Jocelyn Aitken (Cobo), Dr Rebecca Mitchinson (St Martin's) Dr Sally Richardson (Rohais) and Dr Tanvee Tomar (High Street). Appointments are booked by calling the Weight Management team at each surgery.
If you are deemed appropriate to proceed with treatment following your questionnaire you will have an initial consultation with one of the weight management doctors, where they will discuss treatment and provide you with a prescription for the injections.
You will then have a 30 minute appointment with one of our weight management nurses who will provide more dietary and exercise information and will show you how to use the device. You will then see these nurses monthly for a review of your weight loss, review of your medication dose and provision of ongoing prescriptions.

An allergy is when the body’s immune system over-reacts to something that is harmless to most people. The substance is known as an allergen.
Specific-IgE testing can help to assess if you may be allergic to something. Various types are available: we use one called ALEX-2.
