Allergy Clinic
In people who suffer from allergies, their body produces antibodies against substances such as pollens and nuts (allergens). This causes the release of histamine resulting in symptoms such as a runny nose, congested sinuses, wheezing, rashes, itching, and gastric symptoms. Sometimes, the allergens can bring about a very severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis.
The Allergy Clinic provides comprehensive diagnostic tests for children and adults to uncover undiagnosed allergies. The clinic can arrange specialised investigation, including skin prick tests and the blood test Alex 2, which can analyse for up to three hundred different allergens. The clinic can also assess for lactose intolerance using a specific breath test.
We advise you to discuss with your usual doctor whether you need allergy testing. Your doctor can arrange an appointment for you to see Dr Palmeri, who will talk through the most appropriate tests and treatment options.
