Mental Health Support

Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health.

At different points in life, many of us experience stress, low mood, anxiety, or feel overwhelmed. For some, these feelings pass with time. For others, they can become more persistent or harder to manage alone.

Whatever you are experiencing, you are not alone, and support is available.

How we can help

Our GPs are here to support you with all aspects of your mental health. This might include:

  • Feeling low, anxious or overwhelmed

  • Stress related to work, family or life changes

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Panic attacks or ongoing anxiety

  • Support with existing mental health conditions

We can offer:

  • Time to listen and understand what’s going on

  • Advice and practical support

  • Access to treatment where appropriate

  • Referral or signposting to specialist services if needed

If you would like to speak to a GP, you can book an appointment online here.

Local support services

There are also a number of organisations in Guernsey offering additional support, advice and listening services.

These include:

Samaritans are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, if you need someone to talk to:

If you are worried about someone else

If you are concerned about someone’s mental health, you can contact their GP surgery.

You can share your concerns with us in confidence. This information will be passed on to their GP, who can then consider the most appropriate next steps.

We will not share any information or medical details about the patient with you, and your name will not be shared with the patient.

When to seek urgent help

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, or at risk of harm, please seek urgent help by calling emergency services.

An allergy is when the body’s immune system over-reacts to something that is harmless to most people. The substance is known as an allergen.

Skin-prick testing is quick and easy to perform and the results are immediate.

Specific-IgE testing can help to assess if you may be allergic to something. Various types are available: we use one called ALEX-2.

We offer two types of breath tests. We can test for lactose intolerance and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
