Nurse Florence Sutherland
RGN and BSc in Adult Nursing
Nurse Flo graduated from The University of The West of Scotland with a BSc in Adult nursing in 2017. As a newly qualified nurse, she undertook a rotational post at the Royal Alexadra Hospital which included working in specialties such as Haematology, General Medicine, Urology and Geriatric Care. During her time on the Urology ward she developed a keen interest in surgical nursing.
In late 2018 she made the move to Guernsey where she spent the next four years working on Giffard Ward the surgical ward of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, honing and developing new skills and improving her knowledge base.
She decided to move to the Emergency Department in 2022. During her time there she did an extensive amount of training, gaining valuable skills in things such as cannulation and venepuncture. She completed the Paediatric Immediate Life Support course, a course related to trauma management and undertook the Advanced Life Support course in 2024, improving her knowledge of managing life threatening situations, recognition of the deteriorating patient, learning how to interpret ECGs and improving skills in resuscitation. Whilst working in ED she also took on the role of End-of-Life Care link nurse, providing one on one counselling sessions to people who had lost a loved one whilst in the care of ED. She thoroughly enjoyed the three years she spent there.
Nurse Flo joined the Healthcare Group in June 2025. She has keen interests in assisting with Minor Surgery, Skin lesion assessments using our Mole Mapping technology and all other aspects of Practice Nursing.
In her spare time, she enjoys sea swimming (all year round!) meeting with friends and trips to Herm.
