Flu vaccinations available

Flu vaccination is available every year to help protect adults and children at risk of flu and its complications.  Flu can be unpleasant but if you’re otherwise healthy, it’ll usually clear up on its own within a week or two.  However flu can be more severe in certain people, such as:-

  1. Anyone aged 65 and over

  2. Pregnant women

  3. Children and adults with an underlying health condition (such as long-term heart or respiratory disease)

  4. Children and adults with weakened immune systems

  5. Anyone in these risk groups is more likely to develop potentially serious complications of flu such as pneumonia, so it’s recommended that they have a flu vaccine every year to help protect them

The flu vaccine should also be given to:-

  1. Children with dates of birth between 31 August 2015 and 31 August 2017

  2. Primary school age children

  3. Front-line health or social care workers

  4. Carers for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill

Please make an appointment at your doctor’s surgery to have your flu vaccination or call us if you have any queries
